The Grounds Guys of Atlanta & Alpharetta serve both commercial and residential clients, offering full-service lawn care and high-end landscape design/installation. Their service list includes hardscape design & installation, landscape design & build, sod/gravel installation, seasonal displays, lighting & irrigation, and more.

Given the high-end focus (residential + commercial) and design/build capability, this role needs to both sell projects and support the design process.


Compensation/Structure Insights

This position is compensated with a $31,000 annual base salary plus an 8% commission on eligible cash collected from closed sales. This structure is designed to provide stable income while strongly rewarding performance on high-value design/build projects.

Commission is calculated only on client payments that have been received and cleared by the company (not on signed contract value or invoiced amounts).


Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

·      Generate new business in commercial and upscale residential markets.

·      Conduct on-site consultations with clients to understand their vision, budget, and timeline.

·      Prepare and deliver professional landscape design proposals.

·      Develop conceptual and technical landscape designs using CAD, SketchUp, or hand sketches.

·      Collaborate with production teams to ensure designs are buildable and profitable.

·      Negotiate and close high-value contracts ($20K–$200K+).

·      Maintain CRM pipeline and achieve monthly/quarterly sales targets.

·      Represent the company at trade shows, networking events, and community functions.

·      Stay informed on landscape design trends and materials.


Required Qualifications / Skills

·      3–5 years of experience in landscape design/sales (design-build preferred).

·      Strong design skills with proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, etc.).

·      Knowledge of horticulture, hardscapes, and outdoor living features.

·      Proven record of closing high-ticket projects.

·      Excellent presentation, negotiation, and communication skills.

·      Entrepreneurial mindset; comfortable in a performance-based role.

·      Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the Atlanta metro area.


Preferred Qualifications

·      Portfolio of completed high-end residential/commercial projects.

·      Experience with CRM or project estimating software.

·      Background in landscape architecture, design, or horticulture.

·      Experience in franchised or growth-oriented environments.

5. Payment Schedule

Base salary is paid on the company’s normal payroll schedule.

Commissions are paid biweekly or monthly (per the company’s commission cycle), based on client payments received and cleared. Commissions are not paid on signed contract value, invoiced amounts, pending payments, or uncollected balances.

Any refunds, chargebacks, credits, or write-offs related to previously paid commissions will result in commission reversals or deductions from future commission payments.


6. Performance Review

Sales performance will be reviewed at the end of each month. Reps consistently missing quota (for 2 consecutive months) may be placed on performance review or reassignment. Top-performing reps may qualify for higher-tier incentives or leadership roles.


7. Terms & Conditions

The company reserves the right to modify commission rates, quotas, or commission eligibility rules with a 30-day written notice.

Only direct sales initiated and closed by the sales representative are eligible for commission.

All client transactions must be properly documented in the CRM or sales tracking system.
